HISTORY

Mission Statement – Diversity Leadership Alliance guides leaders in the transformation of culture to build an inclusive community where each person is equally respected and empowered.

Diversity Leadership Alliance began in 2002 at a diversity leadership round table in Phoenix where leaders from various organizations and businesses came together to discuss challenges and potential solutions for business success. Diversity Leadership Alliance was officially formed in 2003 with the collaboration of several major companies in Arizona.

Our goal is to provide a forum for diversity and inclusion dialogue, as well as offer learning opportunities to enhance professional development, understanding, promotion and management of diversity as an essential part of business success. Organizations that understand, recognize and value diversity can attract and retain top talent, as well as have a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

 

WORKSHOPS

Monthly workshops, with attendance averaging over 100 each month, feature world-class diversity practice leaders who promote leadership skills and educate attendees on a wide variety of topics. Participants gain valuable tools and information that can be implemented in their organizations and community.

DIVERSITY CONFERENCE

The annual conference, with attendance as high as 1,700, features multiple workshops, executive and legal forums and nationally recognized keynote speakers.

YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

(FUNDED BY A GENEROUS GRANT FROM THE OPUS FOUNDATION)

The Youth Leadership program, geared towards Phoenix area high school students, is designed to assist students with transitioning from school to work, as well as provide them with tools and resources to help build leadership skills. Students participate in workshops, the new DLA mentor program and are eligible to apply for DLA scholarships.
