Our culture — which means each of us as individuals — sees people with disabilities through some very old lenses. But exactly because of clearly observable changes in recent years, this is an emerging segment of our human family. It's a very large one, and their exploding, real potential remains substantially untapped in the workplace. It generally takes some time for cultural beliefs to change, especially when they need to catch up with the kind of sudden and substantial shift that has taken place around the disability experience.

This course takes a much-needed fresh look, allowing us to get aligned with the truth of Modern Disability, and to ensure that we are able to productively embrace the contributions of this qualified portion of the workforce, with their unique talents and perspectives.

Gary Karp is an internationally recognized public speaker, corporate trainer, author and editor.

Gary Karp’s goal is to enlighten society to the radical changes that have taken place in what he calls “Modern Disability,” and the exploding potential of people with disabilities. A wheelchair user following a spinal cord injury he incurred in 1973 at the age of 18, Gary is an author and speaker with three books to his name. He has written extensively as a disability journalist and blogger, and speaks to a wide array of audiences across the U.S. for universities, rehab centers, business, government, and conferences, where he is known for his passion, clarity, and humor — as well as his dazzling juggling skills! In 2007 Gary was honored with his induction into the Spinal Cord Injury Hall of Fame as a disability educator.
