Introduction

Women’s leadership can change the world for the better, and a plethora of studies from groups as diverse as McKinsey and Company and the World Bank conclude that better leadership decisions and business results occur when a critical mass of women is at the table along with men. 

Benefits to organizations, and why both men and women should care about gender parity in leadership include superior financial performance, increasing the pipeline of well-prepared female leaders who are inspired to keep advancing themselves and other women, reaching target markets (since women make 85% of purchasing decisions), and actualizing diversity and inclusion statements so that the company walks the walk. Take The Lead cracks the code that has stalled women at 18% of top leadership positions across all sectors. 

According to studies by McKinsey, Ernst and Young, Catalyst, the World Bank, and others, companies with more women in upper leadership make more money. Further, women buy 85% of consumer goods and services. They gravitate toward providers that authentically appeal to their interests by including women at all levels of product design and promotion.


Workshop Summary

We all know and have probably experienced differences between how men and women are perceived as leaders by both genders, and how Mars-Venus communication styles can complicate workplace interactions, often leaving women behind when it comes to pay and promotion. Women do not need to become men to succeed as leaders, but we do need to understand and be able to both listen and speak bilingually from a gender perspective. This high energy workshop is grounded in theory and focuses on experiential learning of several of Gloria’s leadership “Power Tools.” Useful for all ages and career stages.


Workshop Participants will learn:

 

                
  • Why defining your terms is your most important leadership skill 
  • Five specific skills for gender bilingual communication that can help you get ahead
  • How to navigate the double-edged sword of female leadership (“He’s the boss, she’s bossy; he’s self-assured, she’s arrogant, etc.”) 
  • How to differentiate yourself by communicating your value in terms that can’t be misunderstood.

I conducted all new CEO orientations in my region for years, as well as many national programs for affiliate CEO’s and volunteer leaders. The ability to both lead and teach leadership is an unusual value I bring.
