Gloria Feldt, Take the Lead, Co-founder and President
Co-founder and president of Take The Lead—a nonprofit organization to prepare, develop, inspire, and propel women to take their fair and equal share of leadership positions across all sectors—best selling author, commentator, keynote speaker, professor teaching “Women, Power, and Leadership” at Arizona State University, and a 30+ year CEO, including former President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the nation’s largest reproductive and women’s healthcare provider.
Recognized by Vanity Fair as one of America’s “Top 200 Women Legends, Leaders, and Trailblazers,” I’m also a lifelong teacher. I began teaching at Head Start and my degree in sociology and speech communications includes all requirements toward secondary teaching certification except student teaching. At that fateful point, I was offered a position as executive director of Planned Parenthood in West Texas, which led to a 30-year career culminating in the national presidency. Leadership for me always involved teaching, formal or informal. Even before becoming national PPFA president, I was a founder of its Leadership Institute, which provided training and development for affiliate and national leaders across the country. I conducted all new CEO orientations in my region for years, as well as many national programs for affiliate CEO’s and volunteer leaders. The ability to both lead and teach leadership is an unusual value I bring. My fourth book, No Excuses: 9 Ways Women Can Change How We Think About Power, is an amazon.com leadership and feminist theory best seller. Gloria Steinem called it “indispensable,” Jane Fonda says it can change your life, and Rosario Dawson found it “inspiring.” Founder of Hollaback, Emily May, describes it as “Chicken soup for the leader-lady’s soul.”
"An amazing, inspiring speaker who really knows what women need today.”
--Marcia Reynolds, Executive Consultant and Author of Wander Woman I highly recommend this course.
"You'll learn so much from Gloria that you can use right away."
