Workshop Summary

Mental health challenges are common, current statistics indicate that one in four Americans will experience a diagnosable mental health condition in their adult lifetime. In this workshop, attendees will experience interactive videos and exercises that will give the information needed to recognize the signs and symptoms common to mental health and hidden disabilities like depression, anxiety, substance misuse, suicide and hearing voices, developmental disabilities including what these signs might look like in the work or marketplace setting, and how people are recovering from and living well with their mental illness and/or hidden disabilities. Participants will practice simple techniques for talking to people who are experiencing mental health challenges, and how to respond during a crisis situation. Attendees will also be given resources that can be used to assist people in finding help through peer, professional and community help organizations.
